From the earliest days of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the doors of the church building have been open to the community for drama and musical productions, special events, lectures and civic gatherings.
Church of the Wayfarer has several rooms available which can accommodate various numbers of people.

We require that a church host be present for the duration of your use of our facilities. The hourly rate is $25.00.

Carlson Hall
Carlson Hall offers an intimate space for small receptions but can also accommodate up to 100 people for a sit-down dinner.
Carlson Hall has a stage with a Steinway piano as well as a professional sound system.
Cost: $1000/day
Carlson Hall Kitchen
A commercial kitchen is adjacent to Carlson Hall and is perfect for that catered dinner or one that is cooked here.
Cost: $400/day
Garden Room
The Garden Room is a cheerful room with sliding doors that open to a deck overlooking our world famous Master's Garden.
It will accommodate 30 people for a sit-down dinner or 50 for a standing reception.
Cost: $500/day
Garden Room Kitchen
The Garden Room Kitchen is perfect for a catered dinner. It is equipped with coffee pots, a microwave oven and a stove.
Cost: $200/day
Sanctuary
Our Sanctuary has awesome acoustics, a 7.6’ Yamaha Concert Grand Piano and a stage. It is a perfect setting for recitals or concerts.
Cost: $400 per use
Room Use Policies
- Food and beverages will be consumed only in the assigned room or rooms.
- No smoking in any church building or on church property.
- Please consider the safety of others and be sure that you lock all doors when leaving.
- Small children shall be under the supervision of an adult and not permitted to roam, run in the halls, or disturb other occupants.
- Please be a good steward of our resources and save electricity as much as possible.
- Any use of the organ in the sanctuary is to be cleared with the church organist.
- Please refrain from using glue, tacks or nails to hang items on the walls or woodwork. Masking tape or removable tape is acceptable. Do not use scotch or cellophane tape.
- It is expected that your organization will make every effort to leave the church's property as clean as found.
- When there are other people using near-by rooms, please strive to be cooperative and considerate.
A $150 Breakage and Cleaning Refundable Deposit is required with your application.
Your deposit will be refunded if the following conditions are met:
- Rooms left in order, table tops cleaned, chairs arranged in original positions.
- All lights tuned off in all rooms and restrooms.
- Doors and windows closed and locked.
- Trash bagged, sealed and place in the outside garbage cans (located outside of the downstairs kitchen).
- Outside area cleared of trash and refuse.
