A Ministry Through Music

When in our music God is glorified.

Those who serve in the ministry of music come together to offer their music in thanksgiving and to the Glory of God. May those present be touched by the gift of music, and their souls refreshed!

The Church of the Wayfarer encompasses a superb musical venue - the European flavor of the sanctuary is warm and inviting.  In the balcony reposes the 32 rank Schoenstein pipe organ that was installed in 1992.  It's luscious romantic style is truly an asset to any service.  The orchestral resonance of this instrument is unsurpassed on the Monterey Peninsula.  In addition, a Yamaha C7 grand piano sits on the main sanctuary floor and is a favorite of all artists who perform on it.

Each Sunday of the year a guest artist brings their musical gift to The Wayfarer.  The available resources include a romantic style pipe organ, a 7' grand piano, a Yamaha synthesizer, and a budget to contract with high end instrumentalists and vocalists.  Most importantly, and the greatest resource, is a congregation and administration that supports fine music for enhancement of the worship experience.

The Organist In Residence and Coordinator of Music at The Church of The Wayfarer is Marshall Carpenter.  As Organist In Residence and Coordinator of Music, he programs and performs in approximately 52 small recitals annually.

Marshall Carpenter, Organist In Residence & Coordinator of Music, is a classically trained pianist and organist has been a church artist for many years, and has a lengthy tenure at The Church of The Wayfarer.  For many years he was the organist at Calvary Episcopal Church, in Santa Cruz.
